Whiting Writers' Awards - Ten new writers have each been awarded honors  as winners of the 18th annual (year 2002) Whiting Writers' Awards for "exceptional talent and promise."  Each emerging writer received $35,000

The Whiting Writers' Awards are given to encourage exceptionally promising emerging talent. The recipients are chosen by a committee of writers, literary scholars, and editors. There is no application process.
