Kiriyama Pacific Rim Book Awards

2002 Kiriyama Book Prize Winners | Winners

The Kiriyama Pacific Rim Book Prize, shared by a fiction and a nonfiction winner, was awarded October 29th to Canadian author Rohinton Mistry for Family Matters | Audio Cassette | Hardcover | Audiobook and Burmese born Londoner Pascal Khoo Thwe for his memoir, From the Land of Green Ghosts: A Burmese Odyssey | Hardcover. The authors will share the $30,000 award. 2002 Finalists

Kiriyama Pacific Rim Book Prize

The Kiriyama Book Prize was established in 1996 and was originally awarded annually to only one winning book. To acknowledge the growing diversity and quantity of books entered for the Prize, both a fiction and a nonfiction winner have been chosen since 1999.

The 2002 winners were chosen by panels of fiction and nonfiction judges, who selected five finalists in each genre on September 22 from among the 301 eligible entries submitted for the 2002 Prize from publishers worldwide.
